John Canfield 1924 - 2008 RUTLAND John Shepard Canfield, 84, of Rutland died Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Eden Park Nursing Home. He was born in Arlington on April 22, 1924, son of John L. and Marjorie Mann Canfield. John was a World War II, United States Army veteran. He was employed by Vermont Transit Co for many years as a bus driver and later as Terminal Agent. He later became a driver for Thomas School Bus in Rutland. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Mr Canfield was a member of American Legion Post #31 of Rutland, a former president of Mount Saint Joseph Music Booster Club and a former fire chief in Arlington. He leaves his wife, the former Frances Corcoran of Rutland. Besides his wife he leaves a son, William M. Canfield and wife, Nancy, of Rutland Town; three daughters, Mary Ellen Roy and husband, William, of Pepperell, Carolyn Godbout and husband, Bob, of Rutland Town and Joan Canfield LaSante and husband, Bill, of West Rutland; seven grandchildren, Nadine and Kerry Roy, Ryan and Lyndsey Canfield, Stacey and Dan Godbout and Rachelle Lashinsky; a great-granddaughter, Kaulah Canfield; a sister, Dorothy Partington of Victor, N.Y., and nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be held Friday, May 16, 2008 at noon at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, the Rev. Francis Prove, pastor will be officiating. Graveside services will be on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Cemetery Mechanic Street, North Bennington. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at CLIFFORD FUNERAL HOME in Rutland. Contributions may be made to Rutland Area Visiting Nurse-Hospice, P.O.
