John Crawford Obituary
John F. "Jack" Crawford

1952 - 2015 BENNINGTON John F. "Jack" Crawford, 62, a resident of Saunders Drive, died Thursday, March 19, at the Center for Living and Rehabilitation, surrounded by his family, following a brief illness. Born in Bennington on June 5, 1952, he was the son of John A. and Barbara (Mattison) Crawford. Jack received his education in Bennington and was a 1971 graduate of Mt. Anthony Union High School and later served in the Vermont National Guard. Jack married the former Karen Gauthier on Sept. 9, 1972 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Karen died on August 24, 2007. Prior to his retirement Jack had been employed for 30 years at the Stanley Tool Company in Shaftsbury. He later worked at Mt. Anthony Country Club mowing the rough and tending the golf course, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. An avid outdoorsman, Jack's favorite pastimes were spending time with his grandson Noah, being at his camp in Glastenbury, hunting with his family and friends. Jack especially enjoyed playing golf and did so for many years. In his earlier years Jack also played in the men's softball league in Bennington and competed in archery. The family would like to especially thank the staffs of both the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center and the Center for Living and Rehabilitation for the outstanding care and compassion that was shown to Jack and the family. Survivors include his life partner, Margaret Mailhot, of Shaftsbury; two sons, Aaron Crawford, and Joshua Crawford and his fiance, Charlene Pleasant; three grandchildren, Noah Crawford, Zachary Martin, and Brianna Pleasant; his parents, John A and Barbara Crawford, all of Bennington; a brother and sister-in-law, Kim and Judy Crawford; and a sister, Debbie Crawford (Tim), all of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: Memorial services celebrating the life of Jack Crawford will be held from the MAHAR SON FUNERAL HOME Tuesday, March 24, at 12 Noon.
