John Francis Dean Sr. BENNINGTON John Francis Dean Sr., 79, a resident of Elm Street in Bennington, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 5, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. John was born in Clarksburg, Mass. on Sept. 12, 1931 the son of the late James Dean Sr. and Arietta Aupin and attended local schools. John worked in production for Hunter Outdoor Products and XTILE for many years. He retired from the North Pownal Tannery as night watchman in the late 1980's. John was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Bennington, liked carpentry and wood working. He enjoyed family gatherings and cherished times spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. John is survived by his children Donna Kelly of North Adams, Mass., Katherine Dean- Phillips of North Adams, Mass., Michael Francis Dean of Allentown, Pa. and John F. Dean II of North Pownal; his brothers, James Dean Jr. and Henry Dean of North Adams, Mass., Richard Dean of Adams, Mass. and Kenneth Dean of Florida; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Elizabeth Hurley, whom he married on June 11, 1964. Mrs. Dean passed away November 28, 1999. He was also preceded in death by two sons, John F. Dean Jr. and Matthew Roy Dean; and his brother, Earl Dean. Graveside funeral services for John will be held Friday, June 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal.
