John F. Murray 1928-2009 BENNINGTON John F. Murray, a resident of the Vermont Veterans Home, died Tuesday March 17, 2009 at the home. John was born in Boston, Mass. on June 19, 1928, son of the late Blanche L. Murray and William P. Murray of West Roxbury, Mass. John graduated from the Lucy Stone School in Boston in 1945. After service in the Army, 169th regiment 43rd division for German Occupation, John worked at the Buck Printing Company for many years. Prior to retirement John was in customer service for the Ritz Carleton Hotel in Boston. John attended Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales church in Bennington and was also a member of Bennington Council 307 Knights of Columbus. John is survived by his brother, Bill Murray and his sister-in-law, Carol Murray, of Bennington; nieces Jennifer Hrab of Marbletown, N.Y., Sheila Murray of Choteau, Mont., Heather Murray-Downey of Portland, Maine; his nephew, William P. Murray, of Portland, Ore.; his brother-in-law, Bill McNeil; nieces Leanna, Christina and Michelle; nephews Stephen, Michael, Gerard, Edward and William McNeil of Massachusetts. John was preceded in death by his sister, Marie McNeil, of Needham, Mass.. and his nephew, Kenneth McNeil, of Boston. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated Friday morning at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church. Interment will follow in the Vermont Veterans Home Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, when the family will be in attendance.
