Obituary Condolences

MANCHESTER -- The Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial was offered on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Manchester for John J. Lombardy Sr. Father John Whalen was the celebrant. The readings were done by Ken Linahan and the gospel was offered by Father Whalen Michael Gallagher served as organist, violinist and soloist. Among the hymns offered were “I am the Bread of Life” for the processional; “Amazing Grace” for the communion hymn; and “On Eagles Wings,” for the recessional hymn.

A private graveside service followed the mass at Dellwood Cemetery with Father Whalen offering the committal prayers. Serving as pallbearers were DJ and Josh Mathieu and Chris Jake, John Steve Alexopoulos. Military honors were given to Mr. Lombardy Sr. with members of the Manchester VFW Post 280, Bill Weeks, Wink Roberts and Jerry Coleman performing the flag folding honors. The flag was then presented to Mr. Lombardy’s son, John Lombardy Jr., by Wink Roberts. John J. Lombardy Sr. passed away Sunday, May 6, 2007, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington at the age of 89. Brewster Funeral Service in Manchester was entrusted with Mr. Lombardy’s arrangements.
