John J. Thomayer Jr. 1952 - 2009 BENNINGTON John J. Thomayer Jr., 57, of Pleasant Valley Road died suddenly on Friday, May 29, 2009, as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Route 9 in Bennington Born in Bennington on Jan. 18, 1952, the son of Eileen Bishop Thomayer, and the late John J. Thomayer, John received his education in Bennington and attended Mount Anthony Union High School. From 1972 1974, John served in the Army. Following his service, John began working at Stanley Tools in Shaftsbury until the plant closed in 2001. Presently, John was employed at Vermont Composites. John enjoyed photography, skiing, boating, water skiing, fishing and growing Bonsai trees. His greatest joy was time spent with his family, friends and co-workers at both Stanley Tools and Vermont Composites. He leaves two sons, Jason Thomayer and his wife, Heather, of Bennington, and Jeffrey Thomayer and Emily Moore and her daughter, Dayanna, of Bennington; his mother, Eileen Thomayer of Bennington; a brother, Henry "Skip" Thomayer and his wife, Cyndi, of Bennington; two sisters, Francine and her husband, Keith "Skeeter" Jelley, and Tami Greene and her husband, Shane, of Bennington; his former wife and mother of Jason and Jeffrey, Ann Thomayer of Bennington, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His father, John J. Thomayer, died April 10, 2002 FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at 11 a.m. from the MAHAR and SON FUNERAL HOME. Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. If friends desire, contributions in memory of John J. Thomayer Jr., may be made to the American Red Cross, as John was a longstanding donor and contributor.
