John L. McCart 1949 - 2008 HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. John L. "Jack" McCart, 59, a longtime resident of Route 7, died peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, July 14, 2008, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt., following a short illness. Born in Cambridge on May 5, 1949, son of Betty Moses McCart of Eagle Bridge and the late James McCart, Jack was a graduate of Hoosick Falls High School, Class of 1967, and attended several General Motors Technical Training Schools in Tarrytown, N.Y. Mr. McCart was currently employed as a long haul tractor-trailer driver by Hauser Trucking in Watervliet, a position he has held for the past seven years. For over 22 years, he was employed by the former Johnson Controls Company in Bennington and worked for several years with the Ken Harrington Contracting Company in Shaftsbury. Jack was a family-first man and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. An avid bowler, he was a member of several leagues in both Hoosick Falls and Bennington and the past president of the American and National Bowling Leagues at the Barbecue Recreation in Hoosick Falls. He was a former Scoutmaster at Camp Wakpominee in Fort Ann, coached baseball at the Little League, Tee ball, and Pony League levels for over 13 years, and assisted his wife as a 4-H leader. Jack enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles. He leaves his wife of over 28 years, the former Jean P. Goodrich. Besides his wife, and mother, he leaves three sons and daughters-in-law, Daryl and Polly Cipperly of Hoosick Falls, Jon and Laurie McCart of Buskirk, and Jeremy and Michele McCart of Washington State; two brothers, Bruce McCart and Keith McCart of Eagle Bridge; a sister, Linda Hailstone of Vancouver, B.C., six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Brenda White. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service will be Friday, July 18, 2008, at 6:30 p.m.. at the HOWARD B. TATE & SON FUNERAL HOME Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown, with the Rev. Gaylord Campbell officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. At Jack's request, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions, if desired, may be made to the Karen McGovern Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 132, Hoosick Falls, NY 12090 in memory of "Jack" McCart.
