John L.. Chila 1937 - 2008 MANCHESTER, VT. John Louis Chila, 70, passed away at home on Thursday, March 20, the first day of spring. A man well-loved, he leaves his wife, Dinny, and his four sons, Tim, Peter, Mark, and Lance and their wives, along with nine grandchildren. Born on Nov. 24, 1937 in Port Chester, N.Y., John was predeceased by his sister, Diane Chila Fiorito, and his parents, Josephine Agnus Chila and Anthony Charles Chila. As a boy, his passions were "first one outside and on the baseball field", his clarinet, and his loving sister, Diane. He graduated from Port Chester High School in 1955 after being awarded first seed in the State of New York for his well -mastered talent on the clarinet. Having grown up in Port Chester, John married Dinny and moved his family to Vermont where he would pursue his woodworking and building career, as well as his unique dream of homesteading and skiing with his family. His devotion to his boys' ski racing was relentless. John Chila became a well -known builder and a very fine woodworker. His creations will live on forever. He took great joy in being with his grandchildren, smiling, travelling with his wife, fine wine, helping people in need, good music, being Italian, his friends, and hot summer days. He loved his red truck and the New York Giants. He was an accomplished saxophonist, skier, and keyboardist. Above all, he was a dedicated father and grandfather. John leaves his loving wife Dinny; his oldest son, Tim and wife, Laura, and children, Jeremiah, Sara and Jake; his second son, Peter, and wife, Kate, and children, Carter and Jesse; his third son, Mark, and wife, Carrie and children, Jon and Andrew; his fourth son, Lance, and wife, Elaine, and children, Riley and Luke; and his brother-in-law. Louis, and son, Jason. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Manchester. Burial will follow in Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland. Friends may call at the BREWSTER FUNERAL HOME, 34 Park Place, Manchester, on Friday, March 28, from 5 to 7 p.m., when the family will be in attendance.
