John L Moore "Joe" 1935-2010 READSBORO John L. "Joe" Moore, 75, a resident of Tunnel Street in Readsboro, passed away peacefully Sunday October 10, 2010 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington surrounded by his family. Joe was born in Wilmington, Vermont on April 2, 1935 the son of Howard and Dorothy (DeBell) Moore. Joe lived most of his life in Wilmington where he attended the Cutting One Room School House and attended Randolph Agriculture School which is now Vermont Technical College. In his earlier years, and before starting his own business, Joe worked for Cersossimo Lumber Company, Butt Crafts and for Lincoln Haynes in Wilmington. In the 1950's he started his own logging business and in the 1970's owned and operated a sawmill in Indian Lake and Herman, New York. Joe owned and operated Moore Stone and Timber in Wilmington in the 1980's for over 22 years and in his later years ran the stone quarry on Shearer Hill in Wilmington. Joe loved to work. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. He loved spending time with his friends and family and was a former member of the NRA. Joe is survived by his wife, the former Florence Williams who he married in 1954 in Jacksonville, Vermont, his sons, Mark Moore and his wife Donna of Wilmington, Randy Moore of Whitingham, Brian Moore and his wife Julie of Wilmington, Vt., and Scott Moore and his wife Deidre also of Wilmington, Vt., his brother David Moore and his wife Kathy of South Newfane, Vt., his sister Marie Williams and her husband Richard of Jacksonville, Vermont, his grandchildren Jesse and Tyler Moore, Sara Pratt and Nathan, Joseph, Jason and Christina Moore, his great grandchildren Desiree, Landyn and Logan Moore and Abby Pratt and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Moore. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Joe will be held Saturday morning October 16, 2010 at 10 a.m. at COVEY & ALLEN FUNERAL HOME 44 East Main Street Wilmington, Vermont. Pastor John Brigham of the Readsboro Baptist Church will conduct the service. Interment will follow in the family lot in Intervale Cemetery in Wilmington. There are no visiting hours.
