Obituary Condolences

NORTH POWNAL -- John Pimental, 75, of Dean Road, North Pownal, formerly of Seekonk, Mass., a retired truck driver and thoroughbred horse trainer and owner, died Tuesday in a Rhode Island hospital after a construction accident in Seekonk.

He was the husband of Donna (Garstang) Pimental of North Pownal. Born in Taunton, Mass., he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Etelvina (Silva) Pimental.

He had been a Vermont resident for 30 years, previously living in Seekonk and Rehoboth. He was a truck driver and owner and trainer of race horses most of his life and was known in the Northeast area. He was an avid fisherman.

Besides his wife, he leaves four daughters, Linda Rhynard of Pinellas Park, Fla., Lucy Pimental of Mulberry, Fla., Donna Pimental of Spring Hill, Fla. and Melody Marckres of Grand Isle; five sons, John I. of Norton, Mass., Leonard J. of Seekonk, Edward of Providence, Joseph of Mulberry, Fla. and Michael J. Pimental of Reading, Mass.; 22 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was the brother of the late Mary Gonsalves and Anthony Pimental.

The funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. from the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Seekonk at 11:30 a.m. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery East Providence. Calling hours are Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Rebello Funeral Home.
