Obituary Condolences

MIDDLEBURY -- John Stephenson, 77, passed away on Aug. 25, 2003 at Porter Hospital in Middlebury. He was born on Dec. 11, 1925 in Lowell, son of Pearl and Mildred (Bundy) Stephenson. He was a professor working for Unversity of Vermont, and an agricultural agent for Addison County for 30 years. He was also a consultant for Farm Credit for 10 years in St. Johnsbury. Mr. Stephenson was a volunteer at Porter Hospital for many years, which he enjoyed very much.

He was also an avid skier, and taught not only his children, but also his grandchildren to ski.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Wright) with whom he just celebrated 54 years of marriage on Aug. 14; his son, John Jr. of Bristol; his three daughters, Helen Stephenson-Levitz of Bronxville, N.Y., Carol Stephenson of Bethel, and Janet Stephenson-Zampini of Albuquerque, N.M.

Also surviving are two sisters, Norma Thomasson of High Point, N.C., and Sandra Daigle of Newport; and five beloved grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Middlebury United Methodist Church. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Middlebury Methodist Church Building Fund, care of the Rev. Jill Robinson, 47 N. Pleasant St., Middlebury, VT 05753.
