Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Mr. Joseph V. Agresta, 67, a resident of Lakewood, Colo., and a former longtime resident of Bennington, died unexpectedly Aug. 20, 2005, in Lakewood.

He was born in Amsterdam, N.Y., Feb. 11, 1938. He was the son of the late Vito Agresta and the former Carmelia Rugurri (Milly Murray). Mr. Agresta’s stepfather was the late Ernest Murray. He received his education at Sacred Heart School and was a graduate of Bennington High School. Joe attended The Citadel for a year and later graduated from the University of Vermont with an engineering degree.

Mr. Agresta was employed as an engineer for 30 years at the Union Carbide Corp. in both Bennington and St. Albans.

His family was his main interest. He also enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting and skiing.

Survivors include a daughter, Jo-Anne Agresta of Las Vegas; two sons, Christopher and Michael Agresta of Lakewood; two sisters, Rosan Greene and Donna Hart of Bennington; a brother, Ernest Murray of Bennington; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Preskinis, pastor of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales, officiating.

A reception will follow the service at the Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Parish Center.
