Joseph R. Beaudoin

1925 - 2013 BENNINGTON Joseph R. Beaudoin, 88, a resident of Morgan Street, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, following a long illness.

He was born in Winooski on March 9, 1925, the son of Rudolph J. and Mabel (DeSautels) Beaudoin. He received his education in local schools.

Joseph served with the Navy during World War II, in Washington, D.C., and at the Panama Canal. At the time of his discharge, he had attained the office of Seaman 1st Class.

Joseph had been employed as a cook in the area for several restaurants, including the Vermont Steak House and the Green Mountain Race Track.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening and hiking. He worked very closely with Pastor Robert Lebert in the formation of the Harvest Christian Ministries Soup Kitchen on River Street. But the time he spent with the grandchildren was the most special.

Joseph and his wife, the former Carol Church, whom he married in Bennington, recently celebrated their 47th anniversary.

Survivors, besides his wife, include his children, Katherine Guertin of Pownal, Marie Tevis of Phoenix, Ariz., Adam Beaudoin of Phoenix, Vincent Beaudoin of Kinderhook, N.Y., Michael Beaudoin and his wife, Erin, of Bennington, Reona Albright and her husband, Jason, of Preston, N.C., Theodore Beaudoin of St. Peter, Minn., and Crystal Harris and her husband, Shawn, of Bennington. Joseph also leaves 12 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Theresa Bouchard of St. Albans, and three brothers, Azarius Beaudoin and his wife, Sylvia, of Essex Junction, Reginald Beaudoin of Cropseyville, N.Y., and Theodore Beaudoin and his wife, Irene, of Milton, as well as several nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 13, at the Harvest Christian Ministries, 945 Main Street, at 11 a.m. Interment will take place privately. There are no calling hours scheduled.

Contributions in his memory may be made to Carol Beaudoin, in support of the family, or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, through the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
