1963-2014 SOUTH WALLINGFORD, VT Joseph Demers, 50, a resident of South Wallingford, Vt. passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 8, 2014 in Longwood, Fla. Joseph was born in Boston, Mass. on November 1, 1963 the son of John and Carolyn (Zdankowski) Demers. He attended local schools and graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School and received an Associate's degree from Bunker Hill Community College. Joseph worked as a carpenter for many years and worked grounds and maintenance at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church (Christ Our Savior Parish) in Manchester for the past five years. Joseph enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially to their home in Hawaii. He was a huge Boston sports fan and was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. Joe was also a pitcher in the Cape Cod League and was very proud of his accomplishments of being a shut out pitcher and throwing a no hitter. Joe will always be remembered for his deep compassion and loving service to all those he cared for throughout his life. He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen, and their faithful dog, Bristol. Joe and Ellen married on May 6, 2004 in Cozumel, Mexico. Joe is also survived by his mother, Carolyn Demers of Dedham, Mass.; brothers, John Demers and his wife Cathy of Scituate, Mass. and James Demers and his wife Cindy of North Providence, R.I.; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father , John Demers. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning February 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church (Christ Our Savior Parish) in Manchester. Visiting hours will be held Friday evening February 14, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at BREWSTER SHEA FUNERAL SERVICE, 34 Park Place, Manchester Center, Vermont when the family will be in attendance. At 6:15 p.m. friends and family are invited to share their memories of Joe.
