Joseph J. Bachorz 1920-2009 HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. Joseph J. Bachorz, 89, died very peacefully on Tuesday Nov. 3rd at his residence on High Street in Hoosick Falls. He resided there with his wife of 41 years, Judy Lackey Bachorz, they were married on Mar. 16, 1968. Joe was born on Apr. 25, 1920 in Hoosick Falls, son of the late Joseph and Mary Swainska Bachorz, he attended school in Hoosick Falls and entered the Army in 1946 serving until 1949. Joe then worked at the Pownal Tannery for 35 years. He enjoyed working around his home, traveling and spending time with his family. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post # 6340 in Grafton, N.Y., also the American Legion Post # 40, St. Stanislaw Society and the Eagles Arie # 2467 all in Hoosick Falls. Joe had a dog named Pepper, that he enjoyed very much, but when Pepper died it hurt Joe very much. Survivors other than his wife, Judy, include son, William Bachorz, his wife, Heather, and their children, Joshua and Hope, of Newport News, Va.; two step -grandchildren, Dennis and Toni Lescota of Newport News, Va.; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Lackey, of Hoosick Falls; two sisters, Anne Yurewitch and Florence Matatt; brother, Fred Bachorz and sister-in-law, Carolyn Bachorz, all of Hoosick Falls; brother-in-law, Gary Lackey and his wife, Leslie, of Wildwood, Fla.; and many nieces; nephews; great nieces and great nephews. Joe was predeceased by five sisters, Margie Hearns, Mary Chapones, Jane Durkin, Helen Angermund and Betty Jordan; and three brothers, Francis, Michael and Albert Bachorz. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. from the First Baptist Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial with Military Honors will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends may call at the MAHAR FUNERAL HOME, 43 Main Street, in Hoosick Falls on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Hoosick Falls Fire Department or the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home. Judy would like to thank their friends Sandy Libby Smallwood, Evangeline Brenenstuhl, Irv and Shirley Mason and Janice Malo for all the help and care they have given to Joe and the family.
