Joseph F. Latif BENNINGTON Funeral services for Joseph F. Latif were held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church Saturday, August 28, 2010 where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial was offered by Rev. William H. Kelley, c.s.c., Pastor. A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral Mass.Serving as bearers were three sons-in-law, H. Thomas Smith, Duffy Outwater and James Azzoline; two grandsons, Greg Moore and Justin Amadon and a great-grandson, Howard Glynn IV. The pall that draped Mr. Latif's casket during the funeral mass was placed by his children, RoseMary Valentine, Michal Amadon, Stephen Latif and Jayne Outwater. A wooden cross was placed on the casket by his wife, Jane Latif. Scriptural readings were offered by Gary Harbour and a niece, Sandra Latif. The Offertory Gifts were presented by two granddaughters, Tommi Outwater and Amanda Dezaki and the eulogy was given by two grandsons, Greg Moore and Nathan Amadon. Serving as acolytes during the funeral mass were Leonard Anzivino, Edward Molloy and John Reed. Friday evening the wake service was offered at the funeral home by Father Kelley. Burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Kelley offering the committal prayers. Military honors were accorded the World War II Navy veteran by members of the United States Navy Honor Guard who folded the American Flag and presented it to Mr. Latif's wife, Jane. Mr. Latif, a resident of Gage Street, Bennington, died August 24, 2010 at his residence. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME in Bennington.
