Joseph C. Lauricella Sr.

1944-2010 BENNINGTON Joseph C. Lauricella Sr., 65, a resident of Morgan Street in Bennington, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 27, 2010, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Nov. 30, 1944, son of the late Joseph and Lorraine Pochard Lauricella, he received his education in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a graduate of Thomas Edison High School in Brooklyn.

He married the former Mary Edzards, on April 8, 1972, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

For 30 years Joseph was employed as a conductor by the Long Island Rail Road.

He was a member of the Bennington Lodge of Elks # 567 and a member of the Medford, N.Y. Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church in Bennington, VT. He enjoyed model trains and radio control cars.

He leaves his wife, Mary E. Lauricella of Bennington; two sons, Joseph C. Lauricella Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va., and James J. Lauricella and his wife, Melissa, of Patchogue, N.Y.; a daughter, Lori Gratton and her husband, Michael, of Bennington; two grandchildren, Charles and George Gratton of Bennington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Lauricella.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from THE MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, Mar. 31, 2010 with a prayer at 9:30 a.m. and then from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church at 10 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, Mar. 30, 2010 from 4-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Joseph may be made to either His Pantry c/o Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church, Elks Silver Towers or the Second Chance Animal Shelter through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
