Joseph Robert Morin "Jake/Bobby" 1933-2010 HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. Joseph Robert (Jake/Bobby) Morin 77, passed on to be with his beloved father and mother on Monday December 13, 2010. Born on November 11, 1933 in Bennington, Tt. He lived most of his life in Hoosick Falls, NY. He graduated from St. Mary's Academy, class of 1951. He was the son of the late Gerard Morin Sr. and Mary (Powers) Morin. During high school he was active in sports and worked part time for Calhoun's Dairy Farm. Jake served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956. His home base was Brunswick Naval Air Station, Brunswick, Maine. He was an airplane mechanic and traveled all of the world. Following the service Jake worked for Niagara Mohawk, cutting the power lines in the Hoosick Falls area. He then went to work for the General Electric Company in Waterford, N.Y. until his retirement. Jake had a beautiful lawn and huge garden. His daily walks early in the morning kept him busy. He was a hunter, fisherman, played softball with his friends in Hoosick Falls and liked to play cards. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends around town and going to "camp" up north. Jake was a member of the Elks and the St. Stanislaw Society in Hoosick Falls. He is survived by three sisters Marie Ray of Bennington, Vt., Anne (Robert) Farrara of Eagle Bridge, N.Y., Patricia (Michael) Bornt of North Hoosick, N.Y., two brothers Thomas (Peg) Morin of Hoosick Falls and Raymond (Sue) Morin of West Hoosick, N.Y. His sister-in-law Norma (Jerry) Morin of Troy, N.Y., also many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins and his aunt Virginia Ayers of Texas. Jake is predeceased by his parents, brothers Francis 1949 and Jerry Jr. 2001. FUNERAL NOTICE: Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hoosick Falls on Friday December 17 at 11 a.m. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Research Center at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center through the funeral home. The family would like to thank the many wonderful nurses and doctors at the Cancer Center and at the Centers for Living & Rehabilitation for the outstanding care, kindness and compassion shown to the family during this difficult time.
