1924 - 2014 DORSET Joseph Charles Pellegrini, 90, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 21, 2014 at Albany Memorial Hospital (NY) in the loving care of Hospice. The son of Firmo and Giovanna (Casaretti) Pellegrini, he was born in Brooklyn on May 26, 1924. He grew up in Manhattan where he graduated from Stuyvesant High School. While attending the Academy of Aeronautics at LaGuardia Field, he was called to serve in World War II in 1943 with the United States Army Air Corps. Following his discharge in 1946, he became a pattern maker in the dress business and was a partner in Jane Victor Originals. After selling his business in 1974, he and his wife, Mildred moved to Dorset and purchased the Manchester Country Store. They successfully operated their business for 25 years until they retired in 1999. They enjoyed interacting with their loyal customers and many friends. In his youth, Joseph was very involved with the Boys' Club of New York which helped develop lifelong values. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and appreciated all types of music. He was devoted to his wife and spent many years enjoying their home and it's beautiful setting in Dorset. Time spent with family was most important to him. Joseph married the love of his life, Mildred (Bevilacqua) Pellegrini, on April 4, 1948. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage until Mildred passed away on March 27, 2014. He leaves behind his loving family including daughter, Darinda Salinetti and her husband, Peter of Colonie, NY, daughter-in-law, Lucy Pellegrini of Bristol, sister, Clara Portera of Engelwood, FL, grandchildren; Christopher Pellegrini (Yong-nam), Scott Pellegrini (Lorena), Catherine Pellegrini-Welch (Aaron), Joseph Salinetti (Laura), Daniel Salinetti (Karen) and Michael Salinetti (Carolyn), great-grandchildren; Emma Salinetti, Jack Salinetti and Owen Welch. He was predeceased by sons, Raymond Pellegrini in 2006 and Donald Pellegrini in 1993 and sisters, Annabel Portera and Rose Portera. FUNERAL NOTICE: A mass of Christian death and burial will be celebrated at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Christ Our Savior Parish in Manchester Center on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. Burial will take place in Dellwood Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at Brewster - Shea Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 1 from 3 to 6 p.m. The Vigil Service will be held during this time.
