BENNINGTON -- Josephine L. LaFountain, 59, a resident of Frost Lane in Pownal, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Crescent Manor Care Centers in Bennington, surrounded by her family.

Josephine was born in Sunderland, on July 5, 1947, the daughter of William and Mary (Ryan) Capin.She received her education in Sunderland schools and graduated from Burr & Burton Seminaryin Manchester. Josephine workedat Thompson Mills in Bennnington, the Green Mountain Park in Pownal and for many years worked at the MidTown Motel in Bennington. She enjoyed cooking, camping, especially at Lake Champlain, tag sales, walking on the beach and crafts. She loved her home and cherished times spent with her family.

Josephine is survived by her husband, John LaFountain, of Pownal, to whom she married in Bennington on Nov. 3, 1963; three sons, John LaFountain and his wife, Robin, of North Bennington, and Michael and Chad LaFountain of Pownal; her daughter Maryanne R. Sinteff and her husband, Richard, of Summervile, S.C.; her siblings, William Albert Mason of Bennington, Dwayne Robert Mason of Woodford, Sonja May Mason of Anchorage, Alaska, James Howard Mason of Maryland, Ella Mary Capin, Kathleen Ann Metcalf and Hyland Capin of Bennington; six grandchildren, Jodi, Joshua, Nathian and Amanda Foster and John and Brandi LaFountain and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister Ella Prue.

Funeral services for Josephine will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Bennington. Interment will follow in the family lot in Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held Sunday, May 6, 2007, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, May 7, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., when the family will be in attendance.
