Obituary Condolences

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Joy Jones, 89, died on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Adams, Mass., on Dec. 4, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mary Ellen Timony Boothman. She was a life long area resident and was a member of the Hoosick Falls Community Alliance Church. She was employed as a secretary for many years at Mary McClellan Hospital, retiring in 1985.

In her free time Joy enjoyed being in her house that she and her husband built and raised three generations; camping with her daughter where they were known as “Gradding Grandma’s” and also with the Nobesobe Camping Club, and she loved to travel. Joy was her given name but also what she gave anyone who ever met her.

She was predeceased by her husband Chester E. Jones and her daughter, Marilyn Jordan.

Survivors include her son, Elmer John (Kathy) Jones of Colorado; her sister, Anna June Hurley of Bennington; her grandchildren June Shaw, Mary Jo Arcolano, Jim Cook, Rebecca Hall, Andrew Jones, Jessica Jones and Diana Jones; 13 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Albert Boothman.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Robson-Reinfurt Funeral Home, 72 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to the Hoosick Falls Community Alliance Church Building Fund in memory of Irene “Joy” Jones.
