1920-2013 BENNINGTON Joyce Goyette, age 93, a longtime resident of Rice Lane, died on Wednesday morning, October 23, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington. Mrs. Goyette was born in Onalaska, Washington on August 16, 1920, and was the daughter of Clifford and Nena (Jorgensen) Wright. While attending Oregon State University, she met Willard Goyette on a blind date, and they were married on December 25, 1942 in Corvalis, Oregon. After many travels during World War II they designed and built a house in Salem, Oregon. Subsequently they lived in Forest Grove, Oregon and Carpinteria, California before moving to Bennington in 1960. Doctor Goyette predeceased her in 2007. Mrs. Goyette had been a Home Economics teacher at Mt. Anthony Union High School and the Department Chairperson. In later years she also taught at Arlington Memorial High School. Dr. and Mrs. Goyette were avid antique car enthusiasts, and were instrumental in starting the Bennington Antique Car Show. They were members of the Green Mountain Antique Car Club. She was an accomplished seamstress and upholsterer, and was a tremendous cook. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and canning. Survivors include her five children, Ann Marie Prather and her husband Richard of Ramona, California, Rev. John Goyette and his wife Linda of Bennington, Mark Goyette and his wife Irene of Bennington, Janice Dubyak and her husband Will of Potomac, Maryland and Susan Goyette of Bennington. She also leaves eight grandchildren, Carol Prather, Matthew Prather, Nathan Goyette, Joshua Goyette, Alex Goyette, Eric Goyette, Grant Dubyak, and Thomas Dubyak; and one great-grandson, William Goyette. Mrs. Goyette is also survived by one sister, Elizabeth Else of Eugene, Oregon. She was predeceased by one sister, Charlotte Lessick. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning, October 26, at 10 a.m. at the Green Mountain Christian Center, 440 Main Street in Bennington. Interment will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. There are no calling hours scheduled.
