Joyce W. Hedding

1929-2013 Joyce W. Hedding, 83, widow of Earl S. Hedding, a resident of Water St. in North Bennington, Vt., died Thursday January 24, 2013 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

She was born in Bennington, Vt., February 27, 1929. Joyce was the daughter of the late Lewis S. and Edna B. (Cherbonneau) White. She received her education in North Bennington and was a graduate of North Bennington High School.

On October 25, 1947 Joyce married Earl S. Hedding at the North Bennington Baptist Church. Mr. Hedding died March 4, 2005.

In earlier years Joyce worked as a waitress at the Villager Restaurant in North Bennington and later at the Union Carbide Corporation. For several years Joyce was a cook at Prospect Nursing Home in North Bennington and retired from the Housekeeping Dept. at Bennington College in 1993.

Joyce was a Girl Scout Leader and taught Sunday School at the North Bennington Baptist Church. For over 25 years Joyce was a member of the North Bennington Fire Department Auxiliary and was a Past Worthy Matron of the Tucker Lodge Chapter # 38 Order of Eastern Star. She loved music and enjoyed playing the organ, piano and saxophone, she also liked to tap dance and play bingo.

Survivors include her son, Wayne Hedding and his wife Carol of Pittsfield, Mass., a daughter Beverly Hedding of Bennington; a sister Beatrice Serre of Bennington and two nephews. She was pre-deceased by a daughter Carlene Hedding who died in 1969

A private graveside service will be held at the family lot in Grandview Cemetery in North Bennington in the spring.
