Joyce Lajeunesse 1935 - 2008 BENNINGTON Joyce Ruth Lajeunesse, 73, of Silk Road died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center . Born in Troy, N.Y., on March 22, 1935, daughter of Ivor and Marion Ports Bloomer, Joyce received her education in Lansingburgh and was a 1953 graduate of Lansingburgh High School. For several years, Joyce owned and operated the Brass Lantern Restaurant in Speigletown, N.Y. Joyce was a member of the Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church Choir and was also the assistant director of the children's choir. She enjoyed classical music and playing the piano. She also enjoyed taking care of her house plants, cooking of which she was famous for her spaghetti sauce and homemade candies, and traveling. Her family was her main interest. She leaves her husband, Francis Lajeunesse, whom she married Aug. 15, 1987. Besides her husband, she leaves her children and their spouses, Donna Patrosh and Tom of Michigan, Lynne Mango and Lawrence of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Ann Manzelli and Steve of Waterviliet, N.Y., Pamela Jean Mayo of Clifton Park, N.Y., Debra Weiss and Ira of East Meadow, N.Y., Douglas Hermans and Kathy of Johnstown, N.Y., Glenn Hermans of San Diego, Calif., and Leland Hilton and Elyssa of Copley, Ohio; her grandchildren, Amanda Weiss Priole, Douglas Hermans, Larry, Jeanne Marie and Clarissa Mango, Taylor and Madisson Manzelli, James Mayo, Samuel and Rachel Hilton, George and Marcella Freeman; five great-grandchildren, Katie Marie and Maggie Freeman, Amanda Cline and Lucas Hermans, and a sister, Dolores Lemieux and Jerry of Malta, N.Y. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Freeman, and by a son, Mark Hermans. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be Saturday, July 12, from the MAHAR and SON FUNERAL HOME with a prayer at 9:30 a.m. and then from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church at 10 a.m. where the Mass of Resurrection will be offered. Burial will take place in the family lot in Saint Henry's Cemetery in Averill Park, N.Y. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, July 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Joyce Ruth Lajeunesse memory may be made to the Tower Fund at Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201
