NORTH POWNAL -- Mrs. Julia Mary Buck, 78, widow of Louis E. Buck, a longtime resident of North Pownal died Monday, March 8, 2004 at Bennington Health And Rehabilitation following a long illness.

Born in Bennington, Dec. 10, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Elizabeth Towslee (Burke) Robb. She received her education in the Pownal and Bennington schools and was a graduate of the former Bennington High School.

Mr. and Mrs. Buck were married on Sept. 25, 1946 at St. Francis de Sales Church Rectory, in a double-ring ceremony with Lyman and Shunny Pratt. Mr. Buck died April 12, 1975.

In earlier years Mrs. Buck was employed at several local factories.

Her hobbies and interests included homemaking, sewing, knitting, painting, baking great pies and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter Marcia E. Hall and her fiancé Ron Bisson of North Pownal, and her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy B. and Jay Whitten of Bennington; five grandchildren and their spouses, Steven and Coreta Hall, Heidi and Kirk Moore, Jay Whitten II, Gary Tate and Amanda Hall and Julie and Mike Megaro; four great-grandchildren, Phebe Julia and Kylee Tate Hall, and Carter Whitten and Emma Julia Hall; one brother, Donald Burke of Bennington; two sisters, Erin Robb and Laurel Robb both of Winchester, N.H.; nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Buck was predeceased by a son, Louis Buck Jr. in 1957 and a sister, Jessie Marcia Ryder in 1999.

The funeral will be held 11 a.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Thursday morning, March 11, with the Rev.Mary Lee-Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral.
