Julia B. Maxmillian 1908 - 2010 POWNAL, VT Julia B. Maxmillian, a lifelong resident of Pownal, passed away peacefully Aug. 16, 2010, at the Watson House in North Bennington, her home away from home. She was born in Pownal on June 29, 1908, the second daughter of Elijah and Anna Haley Barber. She married John E. Maxmillian on Feb. 27, 1933. He died July 5, 1984. They had a wonderful life together, traveling extensively and spending time with family and friends whom they met while traveling. Julia attended Oak Hill School in Pownal and went on to graduate from Williamstown (Mass.) High School in 1926. She later attended Bliss Business College in North Adams, Mass. She worked in several offices over the years, including Warren Wire and General Cable in Pownal, retiring in 1973. She was a devout life member of Pownal United Methodist Church, which she and her husband supported in many ways, including working on their famous church suppers. She was also a life member of Red Mountain chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her only sibling, Harriet (Barber) Barber and her brother-in-law, Walter L. Barber, Sr. She is survived by her sister's family, Ann Barber, niece; Walter L. (Bill) Barber, Jr., nephew, and his wife, Mary, and their daughters and families; Ann Barber-Greene and T.J. and Christopher, Matthew and his wife, Courtney; Amy Barber-Thomas and Gary and their children Corbin, Holden, Griffin, Spencer and Quincy. Also surviving are her special Maxymillian nephews and nieces: Jim Maxymillian, Betty M. Thomson, Frank Maxymillian, Julia M. Wolfrum, and Loretta M. Chesboro, as well as her dear friends, Mary Louise and Warren (Bill) Mason. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services and a time of remembrances will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at 2 p.m., at the Pownal United Methodist Church, where her good and faithful friend, Gary Dickson will officiate. Burial will follow the service in the family lot at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visiting hours will be at the church Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, from 1 to 2 p.m., an hour before the service, when the family will be in attendance.
