June E. Reynolds 1926 - 2009 BENNINGTON June Evelyn Stratton Reynolds, a lifelong resident, died peacefully at South Western Medical Center on Saturday morning, Jan. 24, 2009. Born in Bennington on June 15, 1926, daughter of Edna Mae and Bert Guy Stratton, she received her education in Bennington schools and graduated in the Bennington High School Class of 1944. She was a member of the First Methodist Church on Main Street and enjoyed many church activities, such as the youth choir. As an adult, she taught Sunday school and was a Girl Scout leader.She worked for the Thompson Manufacturing Company and Hoy's Manufacturing Company as a seamstress. Then she took over bookkeeper duties for the R.J. Reynolds Electrical Company. Married to Robert James Reynolds, Sr. for 63 years, she was a caring helpmate to many of her husband's endeavors. As a young wife, she traveled to Key West, Fla., and Boston to support her husband's navel career. She was by his side, sewing teepees for the Boy Scout drum and bugle core he led. Sewing and crafts were her hobbies and she taught many people how to knit and crochet, including her daughter. She liked flower and vegetable gardening. Writing poetry was one of her specialties, to the delight of family and friends. She was a devoted and caring mother. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She leaves her husband, Robert James Reynolds, Sr. of Searsburg, where they spent several joyful retirement years together. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Robert James Reynolds, Jr. of Bennington; a daughter, Jacqueline Reynolds Towne of Guilderland, N.Y.; three grandchildren,Brandy J. Reynolds of Bennington, James T. Towne, III, of Gloucester, Mass., and Calum J. Reynolds of Poultney; seven great-grandchildren, Arianna, Pheobe, Sierra, Matthew, Maeve, Jackson, and Nathaniel; a sister, Rachel S. Barber of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a niece, June Tegenkamp of Roanoke, Va., and a nephew, Mark Barber of Pompano Beach. She was predeceased by two brothers, Franklin Stratton and Smith Guy Stratton, and by several cousins and nieces. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. at the HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME, 213 W. Main St. Burial will follow in White Chapel Cemetery on the Chapel Road. Friends may call at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home today, Monday, Jan. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
