Obituary Condolences

DANBY -- June E. Greene, 74, a longtime resident of Danby, formerly of the Londonderry area, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center. She was born June 5, 1930 in Burlington and raised by Andrew and Dorothy Woodcock.

She graduated high school and went on to graduate from Castleton State College, where she earned her degree on an almost full scholarship. She raised her six children, and with much work she did a very good job. She worked at the Courier Memorial School as a fourth grade teacher from 1966 until her retirement in 1987. She liked her work and school functions. She enjoyed needlepoint and reading. She was a regular at Danby Bingo games. She was an avid NASCAR and baseball fan. Most of all she was a devoted teacher and loving mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all.

She is survived by her son Thomas Greene of Danby; her daughters, Penny Bushee of Tinmouth, Darlene Greene of Pittsford, Terry Newman of Cornish, N.H. and Karen Ethier of Rutland; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Lorne, in 1985.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. at Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester. A graveside service of committal will follow in the Danby Cemetery. The Rev. Lawrence Switzer, pastor of the Danby Congregational Church, will officiate. Friends may call Thursday night from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester.
