Obituary Condolences

June R. Hermansky 1928-2012 SUNDERLAND June R Hermansky, 83, a resident of Sunderland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 14, 2012 surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness. June was born in Bronx, N.Y., on July 9, 1928, the fifth daughter born to Thomas E. and Harriet (Thatcher) Norman. At a young age she moved to New Jersey and subsequently graduated from Union Hill High School. She was still a teenager when she met her future husband Carl Hermansky, drawn together by their shared love of gymnastics and poetry. They married October 24th, 1948 after Carl's service in the Merchant Marines. June was involved in the Junior Womens Club, weekly bible study, bowling and AVON. She was a stay at home mom to her six children and was always involved in and supported her children's various activities. She worked outside the home when her three youngest children attended a private school in the late 70's to 1980. Her favorite job was working at Leonia Elementary School as a teacher's aide to special needs and autistic children. June was very proud of her six children and loved them unconditionally, which continued to grow as her children became adults and had their own children. Family was her life; her happiness. When she wasn't surrounded by family, she surrounded herself with books. She loved to read and often told her grandchildren, "If you have books, you are never alone". In 1988, June and Carl moved to Sunderland, Vt., to own and operate the Sunderland Country Shoppes alongside their three youngest children and sometimes their grandchildren. It was truly a family affair. June was a member of the Federated Church of East Arlington, where she was an active member, and served on the Sunshine Committee. She was a very social person who quickly became well liked and respected by everyone she met, and will be missed by all. Her favorite activities, even up to three days before she passed away, were functions she attended as a member of the Northshire Seniors, Red Hatters and Northshire Bonebuilders. June will be remembered with love by her husband of 63 years, Carl O. Hermansky of Sunderland, sons Jeff C. and wife Natalie Hermansky of Lander, Wyo., Troy D. and Jennifer Hermansky of Manchester, Vt., daughters Kim L. Ferguson of Hoosick, N.Y., Darryl J. Davis of Sunderland, Vt., a sister Ceil Roch of Park Ridge, N.J., 16 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons Brett N and Clay S Hermansky, sisters Margaret LaVallie, Agnes Favorito and Harriet Catenaro, sons-in-law Rod Davis and Glenn Ferguson, and infant grandson Adam Bordi. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service to celebrate June's life will be held May 20th, 2012 at the Federated Church in East Arlington, VT at 2 p.m., followed by light refreshments and fellowship. Should friends desire, memorial contributions can be made to the Federated Church of East Arlington or the Northshire Seniors in care of Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, PO Box 528, Arlington, VT 05250 To send personal e-mail condolences to the family, please visit http://www.sheafuneralhomes.com
