MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. -- Junius Edward Morgan, 85, former longtime resident of Palmieri’s Trailer Park, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, in Bennington, Vt., at the Center for Living and Rehabilitation, after a long illness.

Born in Hoosick Falls on Aug. 18, 1921, Junius was the son of the late Walter and Elizabeth Phillips Morgan, and husband of the late Mary Morey Rose Morgan, who died in 2001.

Junius was retired from the New York State Department of Transportation, out of Hoosick Falls, and had also worked for the Boston and Maine Railroad and been a caretaker for Hudson View Cemetery in Mechanicville.

Junius loved to putter with all kinds of things; he would repair anyone’s lawn mower and helped raise his children as best as he could.

Survivors include his children, Mary Morgan-LaPell and her husband, David, of Chestertown, James and Vicki Morgan, of North Pownal, Vt., and Polly Morgan, of Mechanicville; four grandchildren; a sister, Henrietta Lewis, of Glens Falls; brothers, Calvin, of Center Brunswick, William, of Melrose, and John, of Johnsonville; and many nieces and nephews. Many of his late wife Mary’s kids and their families treated Junius as a dad and grandpa.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 South Main St., Mechanicville. Burial will be in Hudson View Cemetery.

Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Activities Fund of the Center for Living and Rehabilitation, care of the the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 South Main St., Mechanicville 12118.
