WEST ARLINGTON -- Jurgen Thomas Strifler, 52, a resident of Sycamoore Lane in West Arlington died on Sunday, May 9, 2004 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, N.Y.

Mr. Strifler was born on Nov. 8, 1951 in Heidelberg, Germany, the son of John and Elisabeth (Adams) Strifler. He moved to Mineola, (Long Island) N.Y. at the age of 17 and graduated from Mineola High School and, later, from NY Tech. His marriage to Evelyn (Verity) Strifler took place on Sept. 1, 1975.

Jurgen was very athletic and enjoyed the outdoors. During high school and college he played on the schools’ soccer teams and, after moving to Arlington, volunteered as a coach on his daughter’s elementary soccer team. During his early years, Jurgen worked in the Garden City, N.Y. school system for 17 years. The Striflers moved to West Arlington in 1993 and built their own home on Sycamoore Lane. Jurgen especially enjoyed his family and being a dad.

In addition to his wife Evelyn, Jurgen is survived by two daughters, Jessica Strifler and Christine Strifler all of West Arlington; his father John Strifler of Boca Raton, Fla.; and his sister Susan Roussos, also of Boca Raton. He was predeceased by his mother Elisabeth Strifler.

Funeral services for Jurgen Strifler will be held on Thursday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at The Chapel on the Green in West Arlington. Interment will follow at the West Arlington Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Arlington Chapel of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
