Karen Carman 1911 - 2009 MANCHESTER Karen Sophie Carman, affectionately known as "Sunny", passed away Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington. Karen was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Nov. 19, 1911, daughter of Werner and Karen Holmberg Sundquist and attended local schools. Karen worked as a telephone operator for New York Telephone, retiring after nine-teen years of service. Karen owned and operated the Center Cut Rate Store in Manchester for over three years. She loved restoring old toys and books and would then donate and send them to children in New York Hospital in Harlem, N.Y. Karen enjoyed her home and going to tag sales and rummage sales. Karen leaves her daughter, Karen E. Carman-Reid of Arlington, Vt.; and two nephews, Richard Sundquist of Long Island, N.Y., and Dwight Sundquist of Baja, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Nelson Carman who died in 2002, her brothers, Fred and Warren Sundquist, and her nephews Fred Sundquist, Jr. and Robert Sundquist. FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside funeral services for Karen will be held Wednesday morning Aug. 19, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Calverton National Cemetery in Long Island, New York. Visiting hours for Karen will be held Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 18, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. at BREWSTER FUNERAL SERVICE 34 Park Place Manchester Center, Vermont, when the family will be in attendance.
