Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Karen Sue Liimatainen, 43, a resident of Sycamore Lane in Woodford, died on Friday morning, Oct. 21, 2005, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington following a brief illness.

She was born in Brattleboro on June 2, 1962, and was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Patricia (Mercier) Coutu. She was raised in Vernon and had moved to Woodford 18 years ago from Vernon.

On Aug. 15, 1982, she married Alan in Townshend after dating for three years. In 1979 they casually passed in the entrance of a country store and it was love at first sight for both.

Karen enjoyed crocheting, knitting, camping, going for walks, sitting and watching the sunrise every morning. She was a great cook and berry picker.

Survivors besides her husband, include two sons and their companions, Jeremiah Liimatainen and Erin VanBuren, of Bennington and Jesse Liimatainen and Casey Mears of Bennington; three brothers, Tom Coutu, Mark Coutu and Joey Coutu; her two granddaughters, Chastity Lila Liimatainen and Dakota Lynn Liimatainen; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

A time to remember Karen will take place on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 p.m. until the time of the service.

Interment will take place privately.
