CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- Kathleen A. Wielt, 57, of Brownell Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003 at the Saratoga Hospital Nursing Home, after a long battle with a rare form of Scleroderma. She was the wife of Richard A. Wielt.

Born March 20, 1946 in Niskayuna, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Marie (Going) Weise. She was a graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School, class of 1965. Kathy worked in the insurance office at St. Clare’s Hospital in Schenectady for several years, and then worked as a home health aide for Upjohn.

In 1983, she and her family moved to Cambridge. She spent 17 devoted years as the director of the Cambridge Valley Senior Citizen Center, retiring on Oct. 29, 2002 due to poor health. Kathy loved helping people, especially the elderly. When she was not working at the center, she was visiting, taking people to doctor’s appointments, helping others in every way she could. She was on the road so much, her brother-in-law named her “Hot Wheels.” Some how she found time for gardening. She loved growing flowers. Kathy was always so thoughtful of others. She liked to shop, especially for little gifts that she knew her friends and family would like.

She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Bennington, Vt.

Besides her husband of 36 years, she is survived by a daughter, Monica LynnWielt, of Somerville, Mass.; a sister, Marie Spring of Saratoga Springs; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Sunday, Dec. 28, from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Ackley and Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge.

Pastor Arnet Mathers of the Seventh Day Adventist Church will conduct a memorial service at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
