Kathleen Theresa Berry Haynes

1934 - 2015 BENNINGTON, VT Kathleen Berry Haynes, 80, of Brookdale Senior Living in Bennington, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015, at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center, following a long illness. Mrs. Haynes, the wife of William John Haynes, was born in Hinesburg, VT, on Dec. 29, 1934. She was a daughter of Van and Edna (Goodrich) Berry, the second youngest of eight siblings, including six girls and two boys. She was educated in Burlington, VT, and was a graduate of Cathedral High School, now Rice Memorial High School. She later attended the University of Vermont and the Royal Victoria Nursing School of Montreal. Kathy and Bill were married on March 17, 1955, at the Cathedral in Burlington. Later moving to Bennington, where Bill entered the family business, the former Haynes & Kane Furniture store, they raised seven children. After their children were grown, they moved to Manchester, VT, where they lived before moving to Brookdale Senior Living several years ago. Her family was the love of Kathy's life. She and her husband also enjoyed socializing with friends and family members and celebrating holidays and special events with the extended family. They enjoyed traveling, often visiting the Caribbean, including a favorite destination later in life, on Sea Feathers Bay on Anguilla. She is survived by three daughters, Laurie Haynes, of Pembroke, NH, Nancy Haynes, of Pownal, VT, and Virginia Haynes, of Bennington; three sons, Samuel Haynes, of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., John Haynes, of Bennington, and Matthew Haynes, of Sacramento, CA, 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Revelle, of Burlington. She was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Lanter, four sisters, Lucy Bergjans, Johann Detore, Bertha Trono and Lyla Killmer; and two brothers, Wyman Berry and Carroll Berry. At the request of Mrs. Haynes, there will be no calling hours. Following cremation, there will be a memorial Mass at Sacred Heart St. Francis Church in Bennington on Friday, September 4th, 2015 at 5 p.m. If friends desire, contributions in the memory of Kathleen Berry Haynes may be made to Rose Lane activity fund through the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, Vt., 05201.
