Kathleen Harvey 1934 - 2008 BENNINGTON Kathleen W. Harvey, 73, a resident of Gage Street, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Born in Bennington on June 8, 1934, daughter of John J. and Mary Grant Whitney. She received her education in the Bennington schools, she was a 1952 graduate of Bennington High School and a 1955 graduate of St. Josephs Business College. Kathy married her husband Joe, who died Jan. 13, 2000, on Nov. 15, 1963 in New York City. Early in her career Kathy was employed in the office of the Sprague Electric Company for nine years. Following her marriage she was employed in the executive offices of Yonkers Raceway in N.Y. In 1976 she was employed at Vermont District Court in Bennington where she became manager in 1990. In 1999 became manager of the Family Court, retiring from the court system in 2003. An avid reader, Kathy also enjoyed knitting, good music and socializing. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, and she enjoyed being able to volunteer at RSVP in Bennington. She leaves two brothers, James F. Whitney of Pittsfield, Mass., and Grant Whitney and his wife, Judith, of Tempe, Ariz; one step-daughter, Suzanne Davis of Nottingham, N.H.; her caregivers, James and Bev Feeney of Bennington, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Neuberger and three brothers, Joseph, Gregory and John Whitney. FUNERAL NOTICE : The funeral will be held from the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME Monday, May 5, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with a prayer, and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 11 a.m. where the Mass of Resurrection will be offered. Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Sunday, from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Should friends desire to make contributions in memory may be made to either the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the Bennington Rescue Squad through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
