Obituary Condolences

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Mrs. Kathleen M. (Baker) Ashton, 87, of Route 7, Hoosick Falls and a native of Adams, Mass., died Tuesday morning, June 14, 2005, at Hoosick Falls Health Center.

She was born in Adams on July 24, 1917, a daughter of the late William and Exina (Boivin) Baker. She attended Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams High School. She moved to Hoosick Falls last year, after having lived in several states including Florida.

Mrs. Ashton last worked as a receptionist at the former W.B. Plunkett Memorial Hospital in Adams for several years, until the hospital closed in 1975. Earlier, she worked at Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Adams. She enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing, knitting and needlepoint.

She is survived by her husband, John A. Ashton, whom she married on June 21, 1941; two daughters, Prudy Jelley and her husband, James, of North Pownal, Vt., and Kathleen Galinski and her husband, Douglas, of Hoosick Falls; one sister, Eva Chase of Lenox, Mass.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2005, at 9 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, Adams. The Rev. Donald E. Gray, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hoosick Falls Health Center or the American Cancer Society through the Auge-Pachiorek-Simmons Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220, which is in charge of arrangements.
