Kay Frances Watson

1940-2009 BENNINGTON Kay Frances Watson, 69, beloved wife of Gerald, died peacefully at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center on Dec. 2, 2009 following a long illness. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Kay was born in Bennington on Oct. 22, 1940 to Dorotha Saunders Loveland and Raymond Saunders. She attended local schools.

Kay and Gerry were married at the First Baptist Church in Bennington on Jul. 5, 1958. This past July they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.

Kay was employed as a bookkeeper for many years by Central Vermont Public Service Corporation. She also managed the bookkeeping for her husband's businesses and was a substitute teacher in the Bennington School District.

Kay was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and The First Baptist Church of Bennington.

In addition to proudly raising, caring for and educating her family, Kay enjoyed music, dance and reading. She also had an affinity for all of nature's creatures, especially the white- tailed deer and her beloved songbirds.

Kay was predeceased by her mother, Dorotha, whom she adored.

Besides her husband Gerald, Kay is survived by her three children, Bruce Francis Watson and his wife, Janet, of Bennington, Kimberley Watson Bushee Miller and her husband, Keith, of Bennington and Christine Kay Bonavita of Middlebury. She is also survived by her most cherished grandchildren, Jeremy Watson Bushee, Angela Lynn Watson, Samantha Blair Bushee, Tre Xavier Bonavita and Alexandra Eve Bonavita. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Caedmon "Little Boy Blue" Watson and Laina Alden Miller. She also leaves a devoted brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Arlene Saunders of Bennington; and three loving sisters, Shirley Loveland Lincourt and her husband, Chip, Gail Loveland Bacon and Betty Loveland White and her husband, Steve. She leaves many, many nieces and nephews, all of whom she cared for deeply.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the First Baptist Church in Bennington on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Jerrod Hugenot, pastor, officiating.

Calling hours will be held at the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME in Bennington on Friday Dec. 4th from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 5th from 10:30 to 12:00 noon.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, and at Kay's request the family asks that memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Bennington through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
