WYTHEVILLE, Va. -- Kenneth A. Durrin Sr., 97, formerly of East Greenwich, N.Y., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, in Wytheville. He was the widower of Dorothy (Allen) Durrin.

Born June 22, 1906 in Shushan, N.Y., he was the son of George and Bertha (VanGuilder) Durrin. A graduate of Cambridge Union School, he worked for Prudential Life Insurance Co. in Greenwich as a life insurance agent. In 1944, Ken joined the United States Navy and served until 1945.

Ken returned to his home area and was the postmaster and owner of the general store in East Greenwich for many years.

In 1985, he moved to Clintwood, Va., then in 1989 to Tucson, Va. In 1994, he moved to Wytheville, where he remained until his death. He was a member of Cambridge-Salem Lodge No. 481 Free and Accepted Masons and American Legion Liberty Post 515 in Greenwich. He attended the Methodist Church.

He is predeceased by a son, Richard Durrin of Cossayuna, N.Y.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Davis of Clintwood, and Linda Durrin of Tucson, Ariz.; a son, Kenneth A. Durrin, Jr. , of Vienna, Va.; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Saturday, Dec. 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge.

The Rev. Jane Baker, of the Embury United Methodist Church, Cambridge, will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m.

Burial will be in the spring at Woodlands Cemetery, Cambridge.
