Kenneth R. Allen 1933-2010 POWNAL Kenneth R. Allen, age 76, a resident of Strohmaier Road in Pownal, died on Thursday, December 2, at the Albany Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Wallingford, Vt. on December 22, 1933, and was the son of the late William and Alice (Bentley) Allen. He received his education in Arlington, Vt. Kenneth served in the Air Force during the Korean War from 1951 until 1955 as an arial photographer. Following the war he went to work at BenMont Paper Company, then he was employed at Bennington Ford Garage, and later he retired from H. Tuttle Company in Bennington following many years of service. Kenneth was also, over the years, a self-employed locksmith in town. Kenneth married the former Roberta "Bobbie" Revett, on June 16, 1951. She predeceased him on May 2, 1998. He was a member of the American Legion Post# 90 of Pownal. He enjoyed playing cards; poker, casino and cribbage. Kenneth enjoyed traveling and shopping. He was a tinkerer, and enjoyed puttering around. He especially enjoyed time spent with family. Kenneth is survived by his four children: Susan Saunders of West Rupert, Vt., Terry Allen and wife, Debbie, of Pownal, Vt., Brenda Armstrong and husband, Gary, of Salem, N.Y., and Sherry Watson and husband, Paul, of Alexandria Bay, N.Y. He also leaves 12 grandchildren: Tonya Gibbs, Angela Saunders, Shirlee Saunders, Betsy Saunders, Charles Saunders, Brandi Saunders, Misti Granger, Sean Allen, Gary Armstrong Jr., Marie Sobon, Dustyn Watson and Corey Watson. Kenneth had several great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Allen and wife, Mary, of Florida; his sister Gloria Mills and husband, Walter, of Bethel, Vt.;, his half-brother Dennis Allen of South Carolina; his fiancée, Doris Ludovicy and her family in Norwalk, Conn.; and his sister-in-law, Margaret Revett, of North Bennington, Vt. He was predeceased by three brothers; Edward, Robert "Toby", and Donald Allen; and one sister, Janice Fuglestad. At Kenneth's request there will be no public services. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
