SOUTH LONDONDERRY -- Kenneth Edson Prouty, age 83, a resident of Smith Haven in South Londonderry, died on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 25, at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center, following a long illness.

He was born in Peru on Oct. 27, 1919 and was the son of A. Wells and Annie (Norse) Prouty. He received his education in local schools. He had been employed by the Stratton Corporation, and had worked as a logger, at various sawmills, and at farming. Mr. Prouty enjoyed working with horses, and was an avid fisherman and gardener.

Mr. Prouty is survived by one brother, Merwin “John” Prouty of Dorse; one sister, Avis Parker of Winhall; a close friend, Gordon Beattie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by one brother, Alton Prouty; and three sisters, Beatrice Tifft, Evelyn Baldwin, and Muriel Tobin.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m. at the Brewster Funeral Service, 34 Park Place in Manchester Centewith Mr. Kermit Reilly, officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Bondville Cemetery. There will not be any calling hours scheduled.
