EAST ARLINGTON --Mr. Kenneth H. Hunt, 74, of Kansas Road, East Arlington died Sunday morning, Dec. 21 at The Centers For Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington with his family by his side, he had resided at the centers for only a few weeks following a period of declining health.

Mr. Hunt was born in Bennington on April 6, 1929, he was the son of Floyd L. and Amy (Thomas) Hunt. He grew up in North Adams, Mass. and Bennington where he received his education. On Jan. 20, 1961 he was married to the former Elvira Ward in North Bennington, they resided in the Arlington area where they raised their family, Mrs. Hunt died June 10, 1997.

Mr. Hunt had worked as a carpenter throughout his life, working with many area contractors, following his retirement he became a caretaker at the Arlington Recreation Park. He was an avid sports fan and had especially enjoyed supporting and following the lady Arlington Eagles sports teams at Arlington High School. He had been honored by the team in recognition of his passionate support. He enjoyed his monthly bus trips to Mohegan Sun Casino and antique cars. In earlier years he was a motorcycle enthusiast and had, along with his wife, raced in many enduros.

Mr. Hunt leaves a son Jody Hunt of Sunderland; four daughters, Kenessa White of Bennington, Brenda Sweet of Sunderland, Heidi Jones of Hoosick Falls, N.Y. and Deborah Pirie of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; two brothers, Richard Powell of North Adams, Mass. and William Powell of Hancock; two sisters, Mona Pedercini and Laura Powell both of North Adams, Mass.; a sister-in-law with whom he was very close, Alice Stratton of Bennington; eight grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, James Powell, and a grandson, Jeffrey Stratton.

A service of remembrance will be held at The Federated Church of East Arlington on Wednesday morning Dec. 24 at 10 a.m., officiating will be interim pastor the Rev. Thomas Truscott. There are no calling hours.

A memorial reception will follow in the church’s Bailey Hall hosted by the Sunshine Committee.
