Kenneth Vernon Tifft 1922-2012 Kenneth Vernon Tifft, 90, a resident of Little Pond Road in Londonderry, passed away Wednesday June 20, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Kenneth was born in Dorset, Vt., on May 6, 1922 the son of Levi Moses and Veda (Woodard) Tifft and attended local schools. Kenneth worked as a carpenter for Morris McGinn for thirteen years and did home building with Pete Doane. In his earlier years he was a logger, using horses to pull the logs and did masonry work for many years. He was a member of the Weston Rod & Gun Club and enjoyed fishing and playing bingo. Kenneth boiled his own maple syrup and split and stacked his own fire wood for many years. Kenneth is survived by his companion of 36 years Jane Stevens, his daughters, Lydia Hart and her husband Anthony, Sr. of Pownal, Vt., Susan Marcotte and her husband Keith of Wells, Vt., Elizabeth Cole and her husband Greg of Brookline, Vt., and Carol Briggs and her husband Ralph Tobin of Bennington, Vt., his sister Gertrude Bergeon of Newport, Vt., his step-children Michael Edward Stevens of Mt. Tabor, Alice Marie Stevens of Florida and Joyce Elaine Stevens-Doherty of Blackwater, Missouri, fourteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his former wife Dorothy Sobol and their infant son Kenneth Tifft, Jr., his step-son John Henry Stevens, his sister Helen and brother Carroll Tifft. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Kenneth will be held Saturday morning June 23, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Brewster Funeral Service 34 Park Place Manchester Center, Vermont. Rev. John Mitchell of Zion Episcopal Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the family lot in Maple Hill Cemetery in Dorset. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday June 23, 2012 from 10 to 11 a.m. one hour prior to the service. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Kenneth's memory may be made to the Londonderry Rescue Squad, c/o Brewster Funeral Service P.O. Box 885 Manchester Center, Vermont.
