Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Kenneth W. Crandall were held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, with the Rev. Michael A. Demasi, chaplain of the Vermont Veterans Home, officiating.

Songs offered during the funeral service were “In the Arms of the Angels” and “Wind Beneath My Wings.” Words of remembrance were offered by Dianne Martelle-Longe, a granddaughter.

Bearers were Dianne R. Martelle-Longe, two great-grandsons, William Martelle II and John Gotsch IV, a grandson-in-law, Lonny Longe, and close family friends, William Martelle Sr. and Edwin Cameron.

Members of both American Legion Post 13 in Bennington and VFW Post 6471 in Manchester conducted their services at the funeral home on Monday afternoon.

Burial took place in the family lot in St. John’s Cemetery in North Bennington with Father Demasi offering the committal prayers.

Military honors were accorded the World War II veteran by the U.S. Air Force honor guard from Scotia, N.Y., who offered taps and presented the American flag to Mr. Crandall’s wife, Edna.

Mr. Crandall, a resident of Emma Street in Bennington, died Aug. 4, 2006, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
