Obituary Condolences

Kenny Greene WILMINGTON, VT Kenny Greene 92, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, Vt., his second home in many ways. Kenny was born in Ilion, N.Y., on March 17, 1917, and spent part of his childhood there. While still a youth, Kenny moved to England with his family for two years. The family then returned to upstate New York, and he graduated from Gouverneur High. During his youth he savored the outdoors walking miles through the woods while hunting and fishing. He learned gun smithing from his father, with whom he started a machine shop in Wilmington. This they sold to George Schneeberger, who built it into G.S. Precision. Ken worked at G.S. for many years, and his fellow workers became good friends. In years past, he also worked for the Town of Wilmington Highway Department, developing life-long friendships with his co-workers there, too. On June 15, 1939, Ken married Margaret Eleanor Covey in Wilmington. Together they built their house on Whitney Lane, and raised their sons, David, Donald and Douglas. When these three were very young, Ken was drafted into World War II. During his Army service, he learned, drafting, which served him well in his future jobs as equipment mechanic, mechanical draftsman, and tool and die maker to mention a few. It also helped him become a master woodworker, a hobby he enjoyed very much. A great Red Sox fan, he also enjoyed following his sons' Little League experiences all through their childhoods. He was predeceased by his son, Douglas, and his wife, Margaret. He leaves his sons, David Greene, and his wife, Laurie, and son, Donald Greene, and his wife, Claudia; his grandchildren, Meghan and Clif McGee and their children, Fletcher and Garnet, Kyle and Lori Greene and their children, Tanner, Eric, and Noah, Jim and Dawnette Greene, and their children, Eric and Devon, and Rebecca Greene and Carl Bartlett, Leah Greene, and Samantha Greene. FUNERAL NOTICE: There will be a funeral service at the Wilmington Baptist Church on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at 10 a.m. Private interment.
