Kevan R. Jones 1923-2008 NORTH BENNINGTON, VT Kevan Raymond Jones 84 a resident of Main Street died Wednesday evening Feb. 27, at the Albany Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Jones was born in Skaneateles, N.Y. on June 23, 1923, son of the late Harry J. and Lydia Helmer Jones. Mr. Jones graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelors Degree in Architecture, he worked for many years as an architect in the Syracuse area where he specialized in the design of schools and hospitals. He was married to the former Mary E. Welling in Brooklyn, N.Y. on June 19, 1948. Mr. Jones was a member of the American Institute of Architects , Construction Specification Institute and National Council of Architectural Registration Board. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed the family camp on the St. Lawrence and was a member of Trout Unlimited. An accomplished artist, he spent many hours painting with oils and water colors, much of his work depicts scenes from the North Bennington area, and have been displayed throughout local business'. He leaves his wife of nearly 60 years Mary E. Jones of North Bennington, two sons Roger K. Jones of Homer, N.Y. and Douglas McK. Jones of Fabius, N.Y., a sister Mrs. Milton Virginia Gregg of Bradenton, Fla., a brother Charles G. Jones of Syracuse, N.Y., grandchildren Corey McK. Jones of Homer, N.Y. and Nichole M. Jones of Dawsonville, Ga., great granddaughters Shaylee and Jaden Jones. He was predeceased by two brothers Harry D. Jones and Edward A. Jones. Funeral services : will be held on Monday March 3 at 11 a.m. at the HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME, 213 West Main Street, Bennington with the Reverend Penny Rich Smith pastor of the Congregational Church of North Bennington officiating. Burial will follow in the Welling family lot in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. when the family will be present.
