Krimi Davis Kahwajy

1915 - 2013

BENNINGTON Krimi Davis Kahwajy, 98, a longtime resident of East Main Street, died peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2013, at Centers For Living and Rehabilitation in the company of her loving family.

Mrs. Kahwajy was born in North Adams, Mass., on Jan. 11, 1915, she was the daughter of John and Rhoda (Ritz) Davis. She grew up in North Adams where she attended school.

For many years, she had operated The Telephone Answering Service providing much needed services for many area doctors and businesses. Prior to this, she had worked in local textile mills.

She was very proud of her Lebanese heritage. She loved having her family and extended families get together for Sunday meals at her home. She enjoyed music and playing cards.

She was a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church. In later years, she enjoyed many activities at Bennington Project Independence, where the staff became friends.

She will be remembered as a caring and generous person who was always willing to help others.

She leaves her daughters, Adele Kahwajy and Laraine Niles grandchildren, Michele Boothe, Thomas Burke; great-grandchildren, Zechariah Burke, Christopher Pruden, Taylor and Emma Boothe, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Mitchell; by grandson, Stephen Joseph Gray; by brothers, Louis and George Davis, and by sister, Helen Garner.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church on Saturday, April 20, at 10 a.m.A prayer service will precede the Funeral Mass at 9:40 a.m. at the HANSON WALBRIDGE & SHEA FUNERAL HOME. Burial will take place in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. when the family will be present.
