BOSTON -- Lamya Essence Lee, 4, a resident of Bennington, Vt., died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at Children’s Hospital in Boston following complications from a heart transplant.

She was born in Bennington on March 28, 2001, the daughter of Pamela Ann Zarro and Lamont E. Lee.

Lamya loved music, painting, sleepovers and girls’ night. She was a very brave little girl who never complained about her illness. She was very smart and couldn’t wait to go to school. She loved to learn. Her greatest wish was to go to school.

Survivors include her mother, Pamela Ann Zarro of Bennington; her father, Lamont E. Lee of Fairton, N.J.; her dad, James E. Killebrew of Bennington; her grandparents, Beverly and Jim Washington of Bennington; her maternal great-grandmother, Joan Van Epps of Deltona, Fla.; her paternal great-grandmother, Margaret Smith of Bennington; three aunts, Amber, Jame and Christine Washington, all of Bennington; and an uncle, Jimmy Washington of Bennington. Lamya is also survived by her extended family and friends.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at noon.

The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for the Child Life Program through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
