Larry Gordon Martell 1938-2008 BENNINGTON Larry Gordon Martell, 69, resident of Beech Court Apartments in Bennington died Tuesday, August 26, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born in Milton Sept. 25, 1938. son of the late Harry W. and Loretta Pigeon Gordon, he received his education in Milton and was a graduate of Milton High School. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He later served in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves. In earlier years Larry had been employed working construction. He later worked at the Wilburton Inn in Manchester and Energizer in Bennington. Larry married the former Diana Reed in 1999. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, country music, puttering around the house, his animals and especially his grandchildren. He was also a collector of M&M's and Coca Cola products. He leaves his wife Diana Martell of Bennington; his children, Danny Gordon, Harry Gordon and Tonya Gordon, all of Bennington, Beverly Farkas of Arlington, Raymond Gordon of Neb. and Alisha Gordon of Neb.; 14 grandchildren; three sisters, Sandra Bevins of Burlington, Kathy McCray and Loretta Brownell both of White Creek, N.Y. He was pre-deceased by three brothers Bruce, Butch and Billy Gordon. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Friday, Aug. 29 at 1 p.m. The burial with military honors will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
