ARLINGTON -- Funeral services for Laura M. Nichols were held at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Arlington on Friday, May 21. Officiating was the Rev. Paul Mychack, pastor of the Church of Christ in West Rupert.

A special musical selection for the service sung by nieces and nephews Donna Shuttlesworth, Randy Clayton, Larry Clayton and Joanne Clayton was “The Roses Never Fade.” Larry played the guitar while Randy played the drum. Personal reflections and memories were shared by Donna, Larry and Randy. Serving as bearers were Randy Clayton, Larry Clayton, Paul Clayton, Richard Streeter, Joseph Brown and Kevin Brown. Burial followed in the Nichols family lot in Maple Hill Cemetery in Dorset with the Rev. Mychack offering the committal prayers. Those in attendance joined in singing “I’ll Fly Away” as balloons were released in Mrs. Nichols memory by her sister Betty Stratton.

On Thursday evening at the Hanson Walbridge Funeral Home members of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 69 held memorial services in honor of their lifetime member. Leading the service was President Brenda Holton and Chaplain Virginia Mattison. Mrs. Nichols, 85, a resident of Route 7A in Arlington, died May 17, 2004 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a period of declining health.
